We have over 8 million users all over the world who have logged over 6 million catches in our app. We’re growing fast, both in our social network and in the company, which is why we’re looking for a Site Reliability Engineer.

Your daily work will involve:

Fishbrain is a fast-growing company, both company and product wise. We need software that runs smooth today and that is ready to handle tomorrow’s load. Figuring out a solid backend architecture, minimizing friction between services, and improving the monitoring of our product’s health is what we’re doing on a daily basis.

You will work with our infrastructure and development for our systems mainly developed in Ruby and Go and belong to Platform team, one of our cross-functional teams. Experimenting and learning new technologies is important to us, which is why we’re curious of what you might bring to us. With the entire backend team you will build software and services that enable other developers to focus on the product, and you ensure that Fishbrain has the capacity for future growth.

Your responsibility is to ensure that Fishbrain always are up running. The platform team accomplish this through automation, Machine Learning, monitoring and constant focus on reliability and scalability.

As an SRE in the Platform Team you will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring and reliability of the infrastructure running on the AWS Platform, using Docker and Lambda functions.
  • The shared services written in Ruby and Go.
  • The data processing, analysis and reporting services built with Kinesis, Redshift & Athena.
  • Development of tools for auto-healing features, detecting and resolving anomalies and management of external risks.
  • Proactively preventing outages through tight collaboration with the Platform developers.
  • Backup systems and processes.


What we are fishing for:

You have at least a few years of experience from a similar position and you are accustomed to working in a cloud native, containerized environment as a Kubernetes and/or Docker. You have strong experience from working with modern cloud services like Amazon, Azure or Google Cloud and experience from monitoring large distributed systems. You have the ability to actively participate in infrastructure design and implementation and you are familiar with agile development methods, Web based services and API’s.

Our reality

Being an SRE at Fishbrain, you’ll be expected to work in a range of different projects. We’re running the largest portion of our service on AWS, mostly using Docker to run apps using AWS Fargate. This gives us a flexible and solid infrastructure that adapts to the load. With the extra infrastructure focus, you understand the joys and pains of large-scale software and how to prepare for upcoming product changes and needs.
